I was enjoying some amazing, fresh spring rolls last month from Henry’s and noticed they replaced the usual generic, sweet-ish sauce with a pack of Kikkoman Thai Style Chili Sauce, instead. At first, I was disappointed, but upon having tasted it, concluded that K-man Thai was the way to go. This coming from a person who has issues with spicy condiments, BTW.
Being the curious person that I am, I wondered exactly what kind of chilis go into Kikkoman’s and so I contacted Kikkoman USA via email and asked. They only just responded last night. It took the consumer services department about a month to tell me that they can’t reveal what kind of chilis are used for proprietary reasons.
Take note here, kids: This means that if you are allergic to, or suspect you may be, to any kind of peppers, including ghost chilis, which I strongly suspect is what’s in the secret sauce, Kikkoman refuses to disclose that info. Nice, eh?
