Happy 2011

For the Glass Half-Full People

The year 2011 will be filled with health, wealth, hope & promise, and gosh, you’re good enough, smart enough, and gol-dangit…People like you!

For the Glass Half-Empty People

Wake up, Pollyanna.  The American economy has been circling the bowl since the housing market crash in 2008.

FACT >> 1 in 6 Americans are only surviving due to help from a federal program such as Unemployment Insurance.

FACT >> There are over 40 million Americans currently collecting food stamps.  This is the highest rate EVAH.

FACT >> The real unemployment stat is closer to 25%, much worse than the first Great Depression in 1929, not the happy, shiny, manipulated for public consumption, government BLS rate of just under 10%.

But don’t take my word for it.  The guy over at American Dream has already done his homework and provided links to all of the above referenced.  (Don’t let the occasional religious reich rantings about abortion & so forth scare you away – it’s a great site with lots of information notwithstanding the religious bullshit.)

But, cheer up, the one bright spot is that the Mayan predicted apocalypse is now just a mere 720 days,11 hours away as of this writing.  Get on over to the Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) and register yourself in the lottery today.
